A Commitment to Lifelong Learning
Dr. Tony Menendez opened his dental practice in Port Charlotte, Florida, in 1986. He is a graduate of Emory College and Emory University College of Dentistry in Atlanta, Georgia.
Throughout his career, Dr. Menendez has remained dedicated to the philosophy of the Academy of General Dentistry and the pursuit of lifelong learning. He is also a graduate of the two-year Comprehensive Dental Program at the University of Florida College of Dentistry.
In 2004, Dr. Menendez was awarded Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) after passing a rigorous exam and completing more than 500 hours of continuing education.
After completing the Comprehensive Dental Program, Dr. Menendez continued as a visiting faculty member at the University of Florida College of Dentistry, where he worked with Comprehensive Dental Program participants and shared his knowledge with fellow dental professionals.
Awards & Achievements
Recognized for Leadership, Service, and Advanced Dental Education
After completing 1,100 hours of continuing education, including 600 hours of participation in specific disciplines, Dr. Menendez was awarded the prestigious Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD).
The Consumers Research Council named Dr. Menendez to the list of “America’s Top Dentists” in 2005 and each consecutive year since then.
Dr. Menendez was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Florida Academy of General Dentistry and was later named membership chairman of the state organization.
Dr. Menendez was elected vice president of the Florida Academy and served as a member of the national organization’s membership council.
His commitment to learning and volunteerism earned him multiple Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition Awards from the Academy of General Dentistry, including his second in 2011 and third in 2017.
Dr. Menendez received an award in Reconstructive and Aesthetic Dentistry from the Peer Reviewed Dentist.
Dr. Menendez was named Regional Director to the Academy of General Dentistry for Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. He was also awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the Florida Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Menendez was honored with the Frank J. Collins Lifetime Achievement Award from the Florida Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Menendez is a past president of the Florida Academy of General Dentistry and served two concurrent terms as president of the Florida Academy. He is currently a member of the advisory committee to the University of Florida College of Dentistry’s Department of Continuing Dental Education.
Dr. Menendez is recognized as an official spokesperson for the Academy of General Dentistry and is one of only a handful of general dentists to have received three Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition Awards.
His passion continues to be the pursuit of lifelong learning and sharing his knowledge and experiences with both dental students and patients alike.
